Modes

There are three importants modes in vim which are

  1. Normal or Command mode
  2. Insert mode
  3. Line mode
  • The normal mode is the default mode when you launch a vim at this point everrything is read only and you cant write or type
  • The next mode the insert mode is activated with the i in keyboard and then you are able to edit the file freely
  • The line mode helps you to sun vim commands e.g to save file. exit etc :wq :q
